WUAL is the main Alabama Public Radio (APR) station from Tuscaloosa , Alabama . The station was founded in 1972 and is owned by the University of Alabama . WUAL-FM broadcasts the Alabama Public Radio program with news and talk , classical music, folk and jazz, AAA and other special music programs.

WUAL-FM broadcasts on VHF 91.7 M Hz with 100 k W and reaches the region from Birmingham to the Mississippi in the west. The APR stations broadcast on three HD channels: HD1 APR News & Classics, HD2 Xponential Radio (APR Rocks) and HD3 BBC World Service .
