WWCR (World Wide Christian Radio) is a shortwave radio station based in Nashville , Tennessee . The WWCR rents airtime to various program producers , mainly conservative evangelical programs. The programs can be received in the USA and worldwide. According to the company, around 400 religious and talk radio programs are broadcast. The owner is FW Robbert Broadcasting Co Inc.

program

Contrary to what the name suggests, not too many Christian programs are broadcast on WWCR. The operating company advertises that WWCR also reaches predominantly Muslim countries, where Christianity is forbidden, via shortwave , but the majority of the programs come from conspiracy theorists of all kinds. Many programs of the ultra-conservative Genesis Communications Network (GCN) are broadcast via WWCR.

  • Pat Boone plays Christian rock
  • Focus on the Family by James Dobson (GCN)
  • Joyce Riley , a 9/11 Truther
  • The Salvation Army
  • Brother Stair - Religious program on all four channels
  • Hour of the Time Show , conspiracy program run by William Cooper until his death in 2001

history

The station started in 1989 as a country music station and interpreted its callsign as "World Wide Country Radio ", but then switched to Evangelical content and called itself from then on "World Wide Christian Radio" . Since the station is now known for its absurd, conspiracy-theoretical programs, listeners also call it "World Wide Conspiracy Radio".

In the early 1990s, Holocaust denier Ernst Zündel rented airtime on WWCR. For his neo-Nazi embassies, he rented around $ 15,000 per half hour of airtime in Nashville. Zündel's German-language program could be received without any problems in Germany and was partly financed through advertising.

Because of its politically controversial programs, WWCR was also the target of arson in the 1990s.

Channel

WWCR is equipped with four 100kW Continental Electronics 418 transmitters for shortwave and transmits on 10 frequencies.

FW Robbert Broadcasting also owns the medium wave transmitters WWCR, WNQM, WMQM, WLRM, WITA (all Tennessee) and WVOG (Los Angeles). Their airtime is also rented out.
