The WZ-19 (also Harbin Z-19 ) is an armed reconnaissance helicopter for the Chinese Air Force manufactured by Harbin Aircraft Manufacturing Corporation .

history

The WZ-19 is a Chinese in-house development and is based on the Harbin H425 , which in turn is a further development of the Harbin Z-9 . The helicopter, of which only prototypes and / or pre-series copies exist so far, is still in the testing phase. The first flight took place in May 2010. The pattern was first publicly presented in November 2012 at the Zhuhai Air Show . Series production has been running since 2014 with around 40 pieces per year. The official first flight of the export version Z-19E took place on May 18, 2017.

The helicopter has a Fenestron tail rotor to reduce noise; In addition, the engine outlets are sheathed to make an enemy infrared reconnaissance more difficult. It also has armor and a small chin turret with a camera, FLIR and laser rangefinder.
