Wache Sharafjan ( Armenian Վաչե Շարաֆյան ; born February 11, 1966 in Yerevan ) is an Armenian composer.

Life

Sharafyan won the 1985 All Union Composition Competition in the Soviet Union. He studied at the State Conservatory in Yerevan until 1990 and then completed postgraduate studies with Eduard Mirzojan until 1992 . After that he was professor of music theory and sacred music at the Jerusalem Theological Armenian Seminary until 1996 . He teaches composition at the Yerevan Conservatory.

In 1998 and 2004 he took part in the Bowling Green Festival of New Music and Arts in the USA, in 2002 and 2003 at the Buffalo Festival . Since 2001 he has been working as a composer for Yo-Yo Mas Silk Road Ensemble , The Morning Scent of the Acacia's Song for Duduk and string orchestra and The Sun, the Wine and the Wind of Time for Duduk, violin, cello and piano etc. a. performed in Cologne, Brussels and Amsterdam, Rome, Florence and Milan, Carnegie Hall , Stanford University and the Chicago Symphony Orchestra Hall . In addition to chamber music, Sharafyan has composed choral music, works for symphony orchestra and the opera King Abgar .
