The Wadenberg Tunnel is a 420 m long railway tunnel on the high-speed line Hanover – Würzburg ( route kilometers 60.5 to 61.0).

course

The route runs in the tunnel to the south in a left curve. The gradient rises slightly in the tube in a southerly direction by 1.483 per thousand. The maximum cover is 28 m.

The tube runs through layers of the lower mussel limestone along its entire length .

history

planning

In the planning phase, the tunnel was in the planning approval section 2.12 of the new line. In 1984 a length of 376 m was planned. In mid-1986, 376 m were planned.

construction

Driving began in October 1986. The tube was driven from north to south. The tunneling work was completed in April 1987.

Together with the neighboring Helleberg and Hopfenberg tunnels , 365,000 m³ of tunnel excavation were incurred, and 515,000 m³ of earth were removed for the preliminary cuts. A total of 85,000 m³ of concrete and 2,900 t of steel were used. The construction cost for the three tubes is 90 million D-Marks (around 45 million euros ).
