Election to the National Assembly of Suriname 2010

The 2010 election to the National Assembly of Suriname took place on May 25, 2010.

  • Democratie en Ontwikkeling in Eenheid (1)
  • The 51 parliamentary seats of the National Assembly of Suriname (DNA) were distributed as follows:

    • Government coalition:
      • 23 seats - Mega Combinatie (MC); The MC consists of four parties, of which the NDP, with the chairman of parliament Jennifer Simons and the newly elected President of the Republic Desi Bouterse, received by far the most votes in the elections.
      • 7 seats - A Combinatie (AC); The AC is an amalgamation of three Marron parties, with Ronnie Brunswijk as chairman.
      • 6 seats - Volksalliantie (VA); the VA is also an amalgamation of several parties with Paul Somohardjo as chairman.
    • Opposition parties:
      • 14 seats - Nieuw Front (NF); In the 2010 elections, the NF consisted of four parties. The party of Bouterse's predecessor, Ronald Venetiaan, lost four of its previous eight seats.
      • 1 seat - Democratie en Ontwikkeling in Eenheid (DOE)

    The turnout was 72%. A total of 324,366 people were eligible to vote.
