from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The forest and adventure pool "Silberteich" is an outdoor pool in Seifhennersdorf in the district of Görlitz . It is located on the northern outskirts of Seifhennersdorf at about 400 m above sea level and is operated by the city of Seifhennersdorf.

history

The silver pond north of Seifhennersdorf on the edge of the Neugersdorfer Stadtwald at a small tributary to the Kaltbach was first mentioned in 1765. In the 19th century, another fish pond with a fisherman's home was built southwest of the old silver pond, which was also used for boat trips around 1900. Until the first third of the 20th century, the silver pond served primarily as a rural carp pond.

In 1929 the community acquired the silver pond area and had a forest pool with 10,000 m² of water and a children's paddling pool built by 1931. The 7-hectare area of the “Volksbad Seifhennersdorf” included sunbathing and play areas as well as the old silver pond, which was now used as a gondola pond. To the south of the baths, the Volksbadsiedlung was built between the Kaltbachtal and the Windmühlenberg in 1932. The preliminary completion of the construction of the Silberteich recreation area was the construction of the Silberteichbaude in 1937 . In 1950 the central pioneer camp "Rosa Luxemburg" was built in the forest west of the Volksbad, which one year later became the sponsorship of VEB Waggonbau Bautzen and in 1991 was converted into the children's recreation center Querxenland Seifhennersdorf.

The natural pool, which only consists of a large pool, no longer appeared contemporary in the 1990s and was redesigned as an adventure pool. The old swimming pool was reduced in size and a stainless steel pool with a swimmer area and a 25-meter lane was created on its southern edge. It is equipped with a whirlpool, a flow channel, water fountains and a waterfall as well as two water slides 71 and 15 m long. The facility also includes a children's paddling pool, an adventure playground with a cable car, slide, swing and climbing wall, as well as a volleyball field and the gondola pond.
