history
The Silberteichbaude was built in 1937 by the local construction company Nierich & Co on behalf of the Seifhennersdorf municipality. The restaurant offered space for 250 guests and at the same time served as protection for bathers when it rained. As a symbol of the local recreation area, it also gained national fame.
After the political change, the city of Seifhennersdorf could no longer find an operator for the excursion restaurant. Years of vacancy lead to the decline of the building. After the building threatened to be demolished, the Förderverein Silberteichbaude Seifhennersdorf eV was founded in 1998 with the aim of preserving and restoring it in accordance with the listed buildings as well as continuing to operate the restaurant. The approximately 65 members of the association were able to carry out the renovation with the support of the city, donations and income from events. The repair work on the facade, the tower and the windows of the building was carried out in 2001 with funding from the German Foundation for Monument Protection . After the silver pond hut was handed over to a new operator, the friends' association dissolved again.
In December 2008 the building closed due to economic difficulties. After the search for a new tenant for the Silberteichbaude was unsuccessful, the auction of the heritable building right on the Silberteichbaude, which was advertised in 2012, remained without a bid due to the very high minimum bid and a registered land charge of a beverage dealer.
