Regional efforts

In the context of the discussion about the complete assumption of the costs of the Viennese kindergartens by the City of Vienna in 2009, the Waldorf Association, together with the umbrella association of Viennese private kindergartens and after-school care centers, endeavored to achieve full equality of privately and publicly run kindergartens. The motto taken up in the joint efforts was "Every child is worth the same to us" , which the Mayor of Vienna Michael Häupl had actually brought up in a courier interview at the beginning of March 2009 as an application for his efforts for the free kindergarten.

At that time, the Waldorf Association formulated as a medium-term goal for the education sector the assumption of the salaries of teaching staff for the Waldorf schools by the Austrian Federal Government. In mid-March 2009, the news magazine Profil also spanned the arc from the free kindergarten to private schools with the motto mentioned above in an article by Peter Michael Lingens , who explicitly mentioned Waldorf schools.
