Valeri Wiktorowitsch Nikulin ( Russian Валерий Викторович Никулин ; born March 16, 1969 in Chelyabinsk , Russian SFSR ) is a former Russian ice hockey player , who during his active time from 1989 to 2007 was among other things Russian champion with HK Metallurg Magnitogorsk .
Career
Valeri Nikulin began his career as an ice hockey player in his hometown with HK Tractor Chelyabinsk , for whose professional team he was active from 1989 to 1995 in the highest Soviet and then Russian league. The defender then moved to his league rivals HK Metallurg Magnitogorsk , for whom he played almost exclusively in the following seven seasons. Only during the 1996/97 season he ran in 13 games again for the HK tractor Chelyabinsk. With Metallurg he won the Russian championship in 1999 and 2001 , as well as the European Hockey League in 1999 and 2000 at European level . In the 1997/98 season, the left shooter failed with the team from Chelyabinsk Oblast only in the playoff final at Ak Bars Kazan and prevailed in the cup final with his team against HK Dynamo Moscow .
In the summer of 2002 Nikulin signed a contract with HK Metschel Chelyabinsk , with which he relegated to the second-rate Wysschaja Liga at the end of the season. In this, the Russian spent the following two seasons before moving to Kasachmys Karaganda for the 2005/06 season. With the Kazakhs he won both the championship and the cup competition this season . When the club was subsequently relocated to Sätbajew , Nikulin was only used in its second team in the Pervaya League , the third Russian division, where he ended his career in 2007 at the age of 38.
