Lycium distichum is a plant type from the genus of Lycium ( Lycium ) in the family of the nightshade family (Solanaceae).

Lycium distichum is a vigorous, upright shrub that reaches heights of 1.5 to 2 m. The leaves are hairy, 3 to 15 mm long and 2 to 6.5 mm wide.
The flowers are hermaphroditic and four or five-fold. The calyx is bell-shaped and hairy. The calyx tube becomes 1 to 2 mm long and is covered with 1 to 3 mm long calyx lobes. The crown is spreading and colored white and light purple. The corolla tube becomes 10.5 to 16 mm long, the corolla lobes 1.5 to 2.4 mm. The lower 2 to 4 mm of the base of the stamens is hairy.
The fruits are orange or red, egg-shaped berries that reach a length of 5 mm and a width of 4.5 mm. They contain three to seven seeds per ovary compartment .
Occurrence
The species occurs in the Chilean provinces of Arequipa and Tarapacá as well as in Peru .
