Valery Sokolenko (born June 21, 1982 in Chernihiv ) is a Ukrainian soccer player who is currently under contract with the Ukrainian soccer club Chornomorez Odessa . Sokolenko is a defender who mainly works on the left side. He is 180 centimeters tall and weighs about 75 kilograms.

Career

Sokolenko began his professional football career in Borysfen. He only played there for one year from 2003 to 2004. Then he switched to Energetik, but he wasn't long under contract there either (July 2004 to December 2005). Further stations were Górnik Łęczna (January 2006 to June 2008), Czernihów (June 2008 to December 2008) and Polonia Bytom (January 2009 to June 2009).

Between July 2009 and February 2011 he was under contract with Energie Cottbus. He played his first competitive game at FC Energie Cottbus on August 9, 2009 against FC Augsburg when he was substituted on shortly before the end of the game. He played his first competitive game from the start on September 25, 2009 against FSV Frankfurt . In his second league appearance, he also scored his first goal in the 2nd Bundesliga .

In February 2011 Sokolenko moved to FK Chornomorez Odessa in the Ukrainian Perscha Liha .
