The National Slate Museum ( National Slate Museum ) is located in Gilfach Ddu ( Wales , UK ) and is a component of the Padarn Country Park from Llanberis . It is housed in the former workshop buildings of the abandoned Dinorwic quarry , where slate was mined for a long time .

The shale industry in Wales has long been one of the most important industries in the region alongside coal. Similar to the Llechwedd Slate Caverns , the museum commemorates this. It opened after receiving £ 1.6million from the state lottery. It shows, among other things, the houses of Victorian quarry workers who were once in Blaenau Ffestiniog .
