Walkers Killie or Ghana Killie ( Fundulopanchax walkeri ; Synonyms: Paraphyosemion walkeri ) is a killifish from western Africa . It is kept as an aquarium fish and was first introduced to Germany for this purpose in 1952.

distribution and habitat

Walker's ornate carafe inhabits waters of the rainforest areas in southwestern Ghana and in southeastern Ivory Coast . This species is the only Aphyosemion - or Fundulopanchax - species that is native to the west of the Dahomey Gap .

features

Animals of both sexes reach a length of 6 to 7 cm. The male is brightly blue on the sides of the body and shows a pattern of numerous irregular blue lines and dots. The bases of the unpaired fins are blue, their ends lined with golden yellow or red. Females are brownish, with a pattern of a few dark spots, and have colorless fins. The species is a ground spawner. The eggs have a diameter of 1.4 to 1.5 mm and a development time of two to three months.
