Coordinates: 34 ° 54 ′  S , 138 ° 37 ′  E The Corporation of the Town of Walkerville is a Local Government Area (LGA) in the Australian state of South Australia . Walkerville is the smallest LGA in metropolitan Adelaide , the capital of South Australia. The area is 3.5 square kilometers and has about 7500 inhabitants (2016).

Walkerville is in the center of Adelaide and borders the city center to the southeast. The area includes four neighborhoods: Gilberton, Medindie, Vale Park and Walkerville. The council is headquartered in Gilberton.

The Walkerville Town Council has ten members, nine councilors are elected by the residents of the three wards (three each from Vale Park, Walkerville and Medindie / Gilbert Ward). These three districts are determined independently of the districts. The council chairman and mayor is also elected by all residents of the town.
