Pilgrimage Church of St. Ulrich (Thann)
The pilgrimage church of St. Ulrich is the Roman Catholic village church of Thann, a district of the municipality of Zolling . It is visible from afar on the north-eastern edge of the village. The church is dedicated to Saint Ulrich of Augsburg .
The construction of the church originally goes back to the Thanner farmer Hans Stöttner. After a vow he built a small wooden chapel over the stump of an oak in 1581. In 1597 Heinrich von Flitzing , the owner of the Hofmark at the time , had it replaced by the building that still exists today.
The church was initially built in the late Gothic style. The facade was later redesigned in baroque style. Inside, a barrel vault spans the church interior . The main altar shows Saint Ulrich during the battle on the Lechfeld , the two side altars Maria and Saint Sebastian .
The church is a listed building (D-1-78-157-24).
