Walter Bilek (born November 13, 1911 ; † unknown) was a German football player .

Club career

Walter Bilek played at the beginning of his career for the Berlin club Weißenseer FC . After Weißensee had to relegate from the VBB Oberliga in 1931 , Bilek moved to Hertha BSC , where he was able to help Hertha win the VBB championship in the same season and thus qualify for the final round of the German soccer championship. There Hertha was able to successfully defend the title after victories over VfB 03 Bielefeld , SpVgg Fürth , Hamburger SV and 1860 Munich . However, Bilek was not used.

From the following season, Bilek and Rudolf Wilhelm formed the Herthan defense formation, which only broke up due to the Second World War . Until then, Hertha took part in the final round of the German championship four times, with Walter Bilek playing eleven games there in 1935 and 1937 . However, the capitals failed already in the group stage.

The last game for Hertha was played by Walter Bilek on the first day of the 1942/43 season, with an own goal in the 2-4 defeat at Tasmania .

Selection career

Because of his good performances at Weißensee, Bilek often recommended himself for the VBB selection team. In 1930 he was also a member of the team that defeated the Southeast German representation in Breslau 2-1 in the fighting game cup .
