Walter Bleicker

Walter Bleicker (born February 28, 1909 in Birkenfeld (Nahe) ; † March 15, 2000 in Birkenfeld) was a longstanding executive director of the Elisabeth Foundation of the DRK in Birkenfeld / Nahe.

From 1915 to 1925 he attended elementary and commercial school and completed administrative training at the Birkenfeld city administration by 1930.

On April 1, 1930, he entered the administrative service of the Birkenfeld Hospital, which he had led since 1938 and transferred to the Elisabeth Foundation in 1966. After 50 years of activity, he retired in 1980.

In recognition of his achievements in the profession and in numerous honorary positions, he was awarded the Federal Cross of Merit 1st Class , the silver coat of arms of the state of Rhineland-Palatinate as well as the badge of honor of the German Red Cross and the golden badge of honor of the VdK. In 1977 Walter Bleicker was made the first honorary citizen of the city of Birkenfeld.

In 2012 the main entrance to the Elisabeth Foundation was named Walter-Bleicker-Platz,
