Walter Bolbrinker

Walter Bolbrinker (born July 14, 1896 in Bielefeld , † February 18, 1981 ) was a German politician ( SPD ). From 1950 to 1966 he was a member of the state parliament of North Rhine-Westphalia .

Life

Walter Bolbrinker first attended elementary school and then did an apprenticeship as a metal printer. He trained to become a foreman. In October 1919 he became a technical employee at Miele & Cie. in Bielefeld.

Bolbrinker had been a member of the metalworkers' association since 1918. In 1925 he became a member of the German Werkmeister Association, where he became a member of the board from 1928. Between August 1939 and October 1940 he did military service in Düren . After the Second World War he became a member of IG Metall .

Bolbrinker had already joined the SPD in 1918 and in 1945 became a member of the SPD district committee in eastern Westphalia. In 1946 he was elected to the Bielefeld City Council. He was chairman of the SPD council group and in 1948 deputy mayor.

Bolbrinker was elected to the North Rhine-Westphalian state parliament as a direct candidate in constituency 139 (Bielefeld-Stadt-Osten und Süd, later Bielefeld II) from the second to the fifth electoral term; he was a member of parliament from July 5, 1950 to July 23, 1966.
