Walter Gómez (born December 12, 1927 in La Unión , Montevideo , † March 4, 2004 in Vicente López , Argentina ) was a Uruguayan football player .
Career
society
Gómez played for Sol de América from 1941 to 1942 and for Unión de Montevideo in 1943. He started his professional career at Central . From there he moved to Nacional Montevideo in 1946 , where he won the Uruguayan championship with his teammates in 1946 and 1947. In 1950 he moved to neighboring Argentina and joined River Plate . There he made his debut on April 2, 1950 in the Argentine Primera División . Three times, in 1952 , 1953 and 1955 , he was also champion there with his team. He then moved to Italy for three years in 1956 for the Sicilian club US Palermo . In 1959 he returned to his home country. With Nacional Montevideo he played the 1959 season and was also in the championship final on March 20, 1960, which the "Bolsos" lost, still for the Montevideans on the field. He then moved on to Colombia and finally Venezuela. There he succeeded in his last station as part of his footballing career as a player of Deportivo Galicia with the Venezuelan championship in 1964, another title win.
National team
The striker was also a member of the Uruguayan national soccer team , with which he took part in the Copa America in 1946 and for which he completed four international matches (no goal) between 1945 and 1946.
