Walter Heidenreich

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Walter Heidenreich (* 1949 in Iserlohn ) is a German preacher and evangelist . He was chairman and president of the Free Christian Youth Community (FCJG) in Lüdenscheid and of its mission branch HELP international e. V.

Life

At the age of about 20, the then drug-addicted Heidenreich belonged to the hippie movement , was imprisoned several times and dealt with occultism . In 1974 he said he had a conversion experience during a drug party , which is said to have freed him from his drug addiction. On the same night his wife Irene is said to have had a similar experience independently of him. After this experience, the future Heidenreich couple, who were not yet married at the time, began a lifestyle.

In 1977 Heidenreich came to Lüdenscheid to join the Free Christian Youth Community, of which he became director in 1980, and from 2013 its president. This missionary movement, which emerged from the Jesus People movement, includes a community of around 50 people, a house church movement , a training center for missionary work, and inpatient drug rehabilitation in Lüdenscheid and Vienna, as well as the social missionary association HELP International. Some former members perceive the FCJG to be more harmful than helpful, as it does not serve to stabilize people and to make them self-confident fellow men, but rather to make them subordinate to the organization. Members with drug problems would be made financially dependent on the group and socially isolated from the outside world. During an interview for the documentary "Mission under the false flag", Walter Heidenreich refused to give a statement.

In 1992 and 1994 Heidenreich led the March for Jesus in Berlin with over 135,000 participants.

Walter Heidenreich belongs theologically to the Pentecostal movement. He is a representative of newer charismatic doctrines such as clerical warfare , vicarious penance and the Pensacola revival movement , which are viewed critically by both regional churches and some evangelical representatives.
