Richard Culek (born April 1, 1974 in Liberec ) is a former Czech football player .
Club career
Culek started playing football at Slovan Liberec in 1980 . In 1992/93 the midfielder was used for the first time in the first team and helped the team to rise to the first division.
In the following first division season he came to a total of 18 games in which he managed a goal. In the fall of 1994, Culek was loaned to Švarc Benešov and made 14 games there. Benešov was relegated, Culek moved to Chemnitzer FC in the 2nd Bundesliga . There he came to 20 games in the first season, but could not prevent the CFC's relegation to the Regionalliga Nord . He suffered a knee injury and switched back to Slovan Liberec as an amateur. Because of his injury he could not play for many months and began 1997/98 first in the B team of Slovan.
In 1998/99 he signed a professional contract for one year and came up with 16 missions. After he could not agree on a new contract with Slovan, Culek moved to Bohemians Prague . In 2000 he moved to the Belgian club SK Lommel and contributed eight goals to promotion to the First Division . 2001/02 he scored six goals in 31 top division games. In 2002 he switched to KVC Westerlo , but only ran once there and went back to Lommel . In 2004 Culek was signed by FC Brussels , where he was one of the top performers. In the summer of 2009, the midfielder returned to the Czech Republic and joined the second division side Viktoria Žižkov . From 2010 to 2014 he played for the Belgian amateur club Bocholter VV and ended his active career there.
National team
Culek played five games for the Czech U-21 national team in 1993 and 1994 . He scored his only goal on his debut on June 7, 1993 in a 3-2 win over Brazil at the Toulon tournament .
