description

The X-Trail Jam is a 6-star competition of the Ticket to Ride World Snowboard Tour (TTR) and is most valuable for the riders in terms of points, along with other 6-star events. The winner receives 1,000 TTR points, which are important in relation to the World Cup. The main focus of the competitions are the Big Air ( Straight Jump ) and the Quarterpipe , which are held in the Tokyo Dome , the largest hall in Japan, which can accommodate a total of over 100,000 spectators. The competition is planned and coordinated by the Swiss snowboard legend Reto Lamm from Pontresina together with the sponsors from Japan. He was the initiator of this largest indoor snowboard event in the world and shaped it through his contacts in the global snowboard scene. The occasion arose at the time through a collaboration between Reto Lamm, Nippon TV and Nissan. Reto Lamm was the first winner of the Air & Style Contest in Innsbruck (today Munich), ISF World Champion 1995 in the halfpipe. Today he is also President of the Ticket-to-Ride Organization (TTR), which was also launched on the initiative of him and some helpers from the scene as well as friends in Switzerland. The car brand Nissan is the main sponsor and invests exceptionally high sums in the contest, which is now the largest of its kind in the world. The steel frame specially developed for the event, on which the ramp, jump and landing area are located, is 38 meters high and was co-developed by Reto Lamm. The Japanese entertainment industry integrates the latest technologies, making the event an unusually celebrated highlight for the sport. Several giant screens, laser shows , pyro effects and LED installations adapt the course to the Japanese entertainment standard. In Japan, compared to traditional sports , snowboarding enjoys an exceptional status in the sport and is extremely revered. The X-Trail Jam has therefore been completely sold out for several years.

X-Trail Jam 2009

Due to the economic crisis and other factors, Nissan had to lay off several thousand employees in the previous year. Funding for the event would have been possible in principle, but the competition was not held out of respect for the now unemployed.
