Torstein Horgmo (born February 18, 1987 in Trondheim ) is a Norwegian snowboarder . He mainly drives slopestyle and big air . Very rarely does he go to halfpipe competitions.

Career

Horgmo drove his first FIS World Cup race in March 2004 in Bardonecchia , which he finished in 30th place on the halfpipe. At the Snowboard Junior World Championships in 2005 in Zermatt , he won bronze in Big Air. In January 2006, he finished second on the quarter pipe and first in slopestyle at the O'Neill Pro Freestyle in Avoriaz . At the beginning of the 2007/08 season he won the Slopestyle at the Abominable Snowjam on Mount Hood . In the further course of the season he came third in slopestyle at Air & Style in Munich , second at the Australian Open in Perisher Blue and The Honda Session in Vail and first at Stylewars in Falls Creek . At the Winter X Games 2008 in Aspen he won gold in Big Air. The following season he won in slopestyle at the Australian Open in Perisher Blue and at the Winter Dew Tour on Mount Snow and in Northstar-at-Tahoe . At the Winter X Games 2009 he won the silver medal in Big Air. In the 2009/10 season he took second place in the Winter Dew Tour Slopestyle ranking. Also that season he finished second at the Burton New Zealand Open in Cardrona and at The Oakley Arctic Challenge in Oslo . At the Winter X Games 2010 he won silver in Big Air, as in the previous year. In the following year he came in sixth place in the Slopestyle at the Winter X Games . In Big Air, he won the gold medal for the second time. He was the first ever snowboarder to land a triple cork at the Winter X Games .

At the beginning of the 2011/12 season, Horgmo took second place at the Air & Style in Beijing . In January 2012, he won silver in the Big Air competition at the Winter X Games 2012 . At the Snowboard World Championships in Oslo in 2012 , he finished 21st in slopestyle. In the 2012/13 season he won the Burton European Open in Laax and finished second at the Burton US Open in Vail . In March 2013, Slopestyle won his first World Cup victory at the FIS World Cup race in Špindlerův Mlýn . At the Winter X Games 2013 he won gold in Big Air. He finished the season in third place in the TTR World Snowboard Tour overall ranking and third place in the FIS Slopestyle World Cup. In a fall during a training run on the Olympic track in Krasnaya Polyana , he broke his collarbone on February 3, 2014 and was unable to start at the Olympics. In the 2014/15 season he took third place in the slopestyle at The Mile High in Perisher Blue and at the Burton European Open in Laax. At the Winter X Games 2015 , he took sixth place in Big Air and in Slopestyle. The following year he came 11th in the Slopestyle at the Winter X Games 2016 .

He is the first rider to land a Triple Cork 1440 (four rotations on its own axis and three backflips).

In November 2017 he announced that he would no longer take part in competitions and would only concentrate on filming in the future.
