Walter Holy
Walter Holy (born August 15, 1921 in Osnabrück , † March 7, 2006 in Cologne ) was a German trumpeter .
Walter Holy worked as a trumpeter in the orchestras of Herford (1945), Bielefeld (1945–1950), Frankfurt (1950–1951) and Hanover (1951–1956). In 1956 he moved to Cologne for WDR . In 1968 he became a lecturer at the Folkwang University in Essen . He was one of the first trumpeters to specialize in the valveless baroque trumpet in the 20th century . From 1960 he was the first trumpeter of the Cappella Coloniensis . In 1996 he received the Johann Ernst Altenburg Prize for his services to the baroque trumpet.
