Walter Mogg (* 1937 ) is a German university professor and politician of the SPD .

Life and work

Walter Mogg did a teacher training. He met his wife at a carnival ball in Liebenau in 1960 and married her in Pfalzgrafenweiler in 1965. The church wedding took place in Nagold. At this point in time, Mogg was studying again, as political science was his great interest. From 1966 on, he helped to build the political chair at the University of Hohenheim as an assistant and worked on "International Relations". In 1969, under the spell of Willy Brandt's Ostpolitik, Mogg joined the SPD, "but without being politically active" (Mogg).

The family temporarily lived in Reutlingen and then built their own home in Sirchingen .

politics

In 1978 Mogg began to be politically active by representing the Urach SPD local association at meetings of the district association. He initially rejected a candidacy for the state parliament in 1980 because the election campaign could not be reconciled with teaching at the university.

Four years later he ran for the state parliament. A difficult undertaking as an SPD member on the Alb. For the first time ever, Mogg received the fifth second seat for the SPD in the Münsingen-Hechingen constituency in an internal duel against the constituency of Balingen. Mogg was involved in the science committee. In 1996 in a “disaster election” he was thrown out of the state parliament.

He then worked in Hohenheim for another ten years. He lectured there until 2011.

family

He is married to Ursula. Ursula Mogg was a secondary school teacher in Reutlingen and Bad Urach. For 17 years she was in Sirchingen on the local council and member of the Bad Urach council. The couple have two sons.
