Walter Petzel (officer)
Walter Petzel (born December 28, 1883 in Oborzysk, Posen Province , † October 1, 1965 in Hameln ) was a German artillery general in World War II .
Life
Petzel served as an officer in the First World War . After the war he switched to the Reichswehr and worked as a commander and general staff officer in various units, including as commander of the 3rd division .
In 1939 Petzel took over the 1st Army Corps as commanding general . In 1945 he was in command of the Poznan Fortress .
