Walter Rau (politician)

Walter Rau (born February 15, 1909 in Mannheim ; † August 20, 1976 ) was a German CDU politician .

Life

Walter Rau attended secondary school. He then took up activities in publishing and worked in advertising. From 1931 he became self-employed and was the owner of the companies Walter Rau Verlag and Walter Rau advertising agency.

In 1969 Walter Rau was appointed Knight of the Order of the Knights of the Holy Sepulcher by Cardinal Grand Master Eugène Cardinal Tisserant and on January 29, 1969 in Rome by Lorenz Cardinal Jaeger , Grand Prior of the German Lieutenancy, and Hermann Josef Abs , Lieutenant in Germany, in the Order invested.

Walter Rau was a member of the CDU from 1958. He acted as the local association chairman in Lank . From 1965 he was the first chairman of the local middle class association Kempen. He was also a member of the board of the CDU district association and a member of the local council in Strümp, as well as a member of the local council in Lank from 1964.

Walter Rau was a directly elected member of the 6th state parliament of North Rhine-Westphalia for the constituency 036 Kempen II from July 25, 1966 to July 25, 1970 .
