Walter Schmied

Walter Schmied (born January 9, 1953 in Moutier , legal domicile in Brienz ) is a Swiss politician ( SVP ). He was a member of the National Council from November 25, 1991 to December 2, 2007 . Most recently he was a substitute vote counter .

Walter Schmied went to school in Moutier and later trained as an agricultural engineer .

Political career

From 1979 to 1982 he was City Councilor of Moutier and from 1982 to 1991 Grand Councilor of the Canton of Bern. From 1997 to 2007 he was a member of the National Council.

From April 3, 2000 to January 26, 2004 he was deputy of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe for Switzerland and from January 26, 2004 to January 21, 2008 he was the representative of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe for Switzerland.
