Walter Seifritz

Walter Seifritz (born June 14, 1939 in Tuttlingen ) is a Swiss nuclear engineer .

Life

Seifritz studied physics at the TH Karlsruhe , obtained his diploma in 1964 and received his doctorate in 1969 at the nuclear research center (title of the dissertation: The determination of kinetic reactor parameters through the polarity correlation of neutron noise in the frequency range ). From 1969 to 1973 he was at the Leibniz University in Hanover , where he completed his habilitation in 1972. He was involved in the OECD stockpile reactor project. Since 1973 he has been director of the physics department at the Federal Institute for Reactor Research (EIR) in Würenlingen and since 1979 adjunct professor at the Leibniz University in Hanover.

Seifritz is the author of a textbook on nuclear explosive devices. In his book, he examines not only military use but also the use of underground nuclear explosions to generate energy. Further research topics are questions of energy supply and questions of global growth.

He was co-editor of the magazine Atomkernenergie / Kerntechnik.
