Walter Wild (born December 31, 1908 in Zurich ; † March 29, 1962 in Zurich) was a Swiss accordion virtuoso, composer and music publisher.

Life

Wild was known as a folk musician far beyond the country's borders. As a boy he was enthusiastic about playing the accordion. As an autodidact , he quickly became an accomplished impromptu player. As a schoolboy he won gold wreaths at competitions. Heinrich Hess from Zurich supported Walter Wild in all respects, so that he became a sought-after accordionist. In 1927 he founded his own country band. In the famous large restaurant 'St. Annahof 'on Zurich's Bahnhofstrasse he attracted attention with his brilliant lectures and in the' Konkordia '- the folk music stronghold - he celebrated great success with his own formation. It was there that he met his future partner Martha. She was an experienced pianist and accordionist herself , who often wrote lyrics for his songs. Walter and Martha Wild were well known in the popular scene across the country. Many records give vivid evidence of his virtuosity . His own compositions appeared in quick succession, which he copied and sold in a cellar. Together with works by other composers, he made it into an impressive music publisher with over 1,500 titles. This company still exists today - under the direction of Nelly Leuzinger .
