Walther Lambert

Walther Lambert (born June 30, 1908 in Ludwigsburg , † February 15, 1987 in Stuttgart ) was a German transport scientist and professor for railways and transport at the Technical University of Stuttgart .

Career

Walther Lambert studied civil engineering at the TH Stuttgart, after which he began his career at the Deutsche Reichsbahn . This assigned him to 1938 as a scientific assistant to Carl Pirath at the TH Stuttgart. This was followed by positions on the board of the Aachen Works Office and as head of operations at the Reichsbahndirektion in Cologne . From 1948 to 1950 he worked again as a scientific assistant at the TH Stuttgart, before he was responsible for the planning department of the Federal Railway Directorate in Stuttgart from 1951 and in particular with the project of the Stuttgart S-Bahn . During this time he also received his doctorate with the dissertation The vertical loosening of urban traffic - a space and cost problem of rail-based transport . In 1955 he succeeded Pirath's professor for railways and transport at the TH Stuttgart and director of the institute for transport at the TH Stuttgart. He stayed in both until 1975.
