Handball

After there had already been a handball department from 1928 to 1930, the division was re-established in 1946. The women's team played for decades between the regional and regional leagues before a sporting high-altitude flight began in the 1980s and 1990s. In 1992 the team was promoted to the Oberliga Westfalen and one year later formed the HSG Wambel / Körne syndicate with ÖSG Viktoria Dortmund . Under this name, the promotion to the Regionalliga West succeeded before the promotion round to the 2nd Bundesliga was reached in 1998. After the promotion, the syndicate was dissolved again and the team appeared as Wambeler SV in the second division season 1998/99 . There the team reached third from last place and managed to stay in the league only through the voluntary withdrawal of VfL Oldesloe . A year later , the team rose again as the penultimate in the regional league. For financial reasons, the club decided not to start there and continued to play in the association league.

Soccer

The footballers of the Wambeler SV played in the district class from 1949 to 1952. Subsequently, the association did not get beyond the district level. The first team was relegated to the district league C in 2015. It was the second consecutive relegation. In 2019 the company was promoted to the district league B. The home ground is the sports field on Sendstrasse , which was converted into an artificial turf field in 2015 .
