Wanda Hill
The Wanda Hill (in Polish copy Wandy ) in Krakow was raised in the 7th century in the later town of Mogiła (in German: grave) probably by the Wislanes as a burial mound of the daughter Wanda of the legendary ruler Krak . Its height is about 14 meters and its diameter is 50 meters.
history
The hill could be of Avar, Celtic, Scythian, Hunnic, or West Slavic origin. During the Habsburg era, a fortress of Kraków was built on the hill . In the 20th century, numerous industrial plants in the new Nowa Huta district were built around the hill .
If you look west from Wanda Hill on February 4 or 6, you can see the sunset right over Krak Hill. If you look east from Krak Hill on August 2 or 10, you can see the sunrise exactly over Wanda Hill. These dates are Slavic feasts of the funeral celebrations in autumn and spring, as well as feasts of Gromnica and the Slavic god Perun .
