The Wandsworth Bridge is a road bridge over the River Thames in London . It connects the district of Parsons Green in the London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham on the north side with the district of Wandsworth in the London Borough of Wandsworth on the south side. The main road A217 leads over the 197 m long cantilever bridge made of steel .

Although the building permit was already in place in 1864, the bridge was not completed until 1873. It was made of wrought iron, the road surface was made of wood. When the Metropolitan Board of Works acquired the bridge in 1880, it abolished the toll . The plans for a new building that had started at that time were delayed by decades. It wasn't until 1935 that the London County Council issued the building permit. With a temporary bridge, traffic could be maintained during the construction period. The new bridge was opened in 1940.
