Wangata is a municipality near the city of Mbandaka in the province of Equateur in the western part of the Democratic Republic of the Congo .

In 2018 there was an outbreak of Ebola fever in the municipality of Wangata and the towns of Bikoro and Iboko . It is proven that 54 people fell ill and 33 died. The Ebola outbreak is said to have no causal connection to the Ebola fever epidemic in eastern Congo.
