The CECAFA Cup 2013 , officially GOtv CECAFA Challenge Cup 2013 , was the 37th edition of the football competition for East and Central African national teams. It was held in Kenya from November 27 to December 12, 2013 . Eleven member associations of the Council for East and Central Africa Football Associations and an invited team from the Confédération Africaine de Football took part in the tournament.
Uganda only reached the quarter-finals as defending champions, while hosts Kenya beat Sudan by winning their sixth title in the final .
Game mode
The twelve participating countries played in three groups of four teams each. The group winners and runners-up qualified for the quarter-finals, as did the two best thirds in the group. The winners of the subsequent semi-finals played for the title in the final, the losers for third place.
Attendees
The Ivorian national soccer team was not invited due to high costs, Malawi did not accept the invitation.
