The Council for East and Central Africa Football Associations ( CECAFA ; German Council of East and Central African Football Associations ) is a regional football association of the Confédération Africaine de Football . It has eleven member associations from East and Central Africa .
President is the Kenyan Nicholas Musonye . Headquarters is in Nairobi , Kenya .
history
CECAFA was founded in 1927 as the oldest regional football association in Africa. The first competition was organized from 1926 to 1966 under the name "Gossage Cup" and sponsored by the Kenyan company of the same name . Since 1966 was named the Eastern and Central Africa championship East and Central African Senior Challenge Cup , rather he in 1973 CECAFA Cup was renamed.
