Church in Straduna

Straduna , in Polish Stradunia , is a village in Upper Silesia . Straduna is located in the municipality of Walzen in the powiat Krapkowicki in the Polish Opole Voivodeship .

geography

Straduna is located six kilometers northeast of the township of Walzen , nine kilometers southeast of the district town of Krapkowice (Krappitz) and thirty kilometers south of the voivodeship capital Opole .

history

Straduna was first mentioned in a document in 1228.

In the referendum in Upper Silesia on March 20, 1921, 367 eligible voters voted to remain with Germany and 243 for Poland. Straduna remained with the German Empire . The church was built in 1922. In 1933 there were 1,033 inhabitants. On August 10, 1936, the place was renamed Tiefenburg . In 1939 the place had 1,074 inhabitants. Until 1945 the place was in the district of Opole .

In 1945 the previously German place came under Polish administration and was renamed Stradunia and joined the Silesian Voivodeship. In 1950 the place came to the Opole Voivodeship . In 1999 the place came to the re-established Powiat Krapkowicki . On April 4, 2006 , German was introduced as the second official language in the municipality of Walzen , to which Straduna belongs, and on June 3, 2009, the place was also given the official German place name Straduna .

  • At the cemetery there was a wayside shrine from the 19th century, it was erected over a mass grave of Bavarian and French soldiers who fell during the siege of Silesia around Cosel in 1807 or died of disease.

Old seal of the community

Old seals and stamps of the place show the Habsburg double-headed eagle with a heart sign. The heart shield shows Mary with the baby Jesus in her arms (Mary help!). The double-headed eagle indicates that the coat of arms must have been created before Prussian times.
