The municipality of Walzen (Polish: Gmina Walce ) is a rural municipality in the powiat Krapkowicki in the Opole Voivodeship . The parish seat is the village of the same name with about 2100 inhabitants. The community is bilingual, German and Polish.
geography
The municipality has an area of 69.29 km², 84% of which is agricultural land and 7% is forest. The municipality occupies 15.66% of the area of the district.

In 2002 the community had 6,215 inhabitants. In addition to the Polish population, people (32.4%) stated German nationality (ethnicity) and 965 people stated Silesian (15.5%) in the 2002 census. In the 2011 census, with a total population of 5639 people, the percentage of Germans was 26.0% or 1464 people.

politics
Community leader
The head of the municipal administration is the municipality leader . So far this has been Bernard Kubata from the German minority, who did not run in 2018. In the regular election in October 2018, Marek Śmiech, also from the German Minority Election Committee , was elected as the new head of the community with 87.4% without an opposing candidate.
Municipal council
The municipal council consists of 15 members and is directly elected in single-person constituencies. The 2018 municipal council election led to the following result:
