Jewish cemetery (Kuppenheim)
The Kuppenheim Jewish Cemetery in Kuppenheim , a town in the Rastatt district ( Baden-Württemberg ), is a protected cultural monument and is located outside the town on Stadtwaldstraße.
history
The Jewish cemetery in Kuppenheim is mentioned for the first time in 1694. It was created as a union cemetery where the Jewish communities in the area buried their dead. These were: Baden-Baden , Bodersweier , Bühl , Ettlingen , Freistett , Gernsbach , Hörden , Kehl , Kuppenheim , Lichtenau , Malsch , Muggensturm , Rastatt , Rheinbischofsheim and Stollhofen .
The cemetery has an area of 104 acres . Today there are still 1054 tombstones ( Mazewot ) and the last burial took place in 1983.
The cemetery hall ( Tahara House ) built in 1889 was destroyed by the National Socialists in 1938 .
