The West African Football Union / Union des Fédérations Ouest-Africaines de Football ( WAFU-UFOA ; German  West African Football Association ) is a regional football association of the Confédération Africaine de Football . There were 16 member associations from West Africa .

history

The association was founded in 1972 and was headquartered in Freetown , Sierra Leone . The president since 2008 was Amos Adamu from Nigeria .

The Union was divided into two zones in 2011: Zone A and Zone B. Zone A will include Gambia, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Cape Verde, Liberia, Mali, Mauritania, Senegal and Sierra Leone. Zone B will have Benin, Burkina Faso, Ivory Coast, Ghana, Niger, Nigeria and Togo as members. They have been managed separately since then, but come together for the West African Football Championship, among other things .
