The Sudan Football Association ( SFA ; Arabic الاتحاد السوداني لكرة القدم, DMG al-ittiḥād as-sūdānī li-kurat al-qadam ) is the football association of Sudan . It was founded in 1936 and joined FIFA in 1948. In addition to the associations of Egypt , Ethiopia and South Africa , the Association of Sudan was a founding member of the Confédération Africaine de Football (CAF) in 1957 .

The Sudan Premier League was formed in 1993 after the country's separate leagues were merged into one big league.

One of the forerunners of the Premier League, the Karthoum State League , is said to be Africa's premier league. It was reportedly founded in the late 1920s . Football was brought to Sudan by Turkish and Egyptian immigrants. They founded 14 clubs in the center of the capital . It is believed, however, that football was only established in Sudan by the English in 1949. In 1956 the association was able to establish the first professional league in Khartoum and in some states in the north. The Youth of Juba Club, founded by the British Army in the south, was not allowed to participate in any of the leagues. But in the early 1990s, when the national league was formed, this team played a full season with the other Sudanese teams. However, they then called themselves Juba FC .

In 1961 it was introduced that all champions of the individual leagues play against each other at the end of the season to determine the overall winner of Sudan.
