The St. Helena Football Association (SHFA; also Saint Helena Football Association or St Helena Football Association ) is the football umbrella organization on the island of St. Helena , an area equal to the British overseas territory of St. Helena, Ascension and Tristan da Cunha . The association was founded in 1922, according to other sources as early as 1900.
SHFA is neither a member of the African Football Association CAF nor of FIFA . For this reason, participation in international tournaments of the two associations is excluded. The football association first contacted FIFA in 2012 regarding a possible recognition.
As a founding member (1985) of the International Island Games Association, the association sends a national football team to the Island Games .
The St. Helena Football Association organizes the Football League , the island's top division and a cup competition.
The football on Tristan da Cunha and Ascension is self-organized.
