Digital Satellite Television ( better known as DStv ) is MultiChoice's digital multi-channel pay-TV service in Africa . Operation began in 1995. It is broadcast on K u band in southern Africa . All that is needed for reception is a relatively small satellite reception system. Other countries in Africa receive DStv via K u band and C band , which requires a larger system to receive. In South Africa, the three public broadcasters of the South African Broadcasting Corporation , namely SABC1, SABC2 and SABC3, as well as the private broadcaster e.tv can also be received digitally. In other countries, subscribers can only receive SABC Africa. The same applies z. B. also for Namibia's public broadcaster , Namibian Broadcasting Corporation (NBC), which can only be received in Namibia.
DStv is one of the most innovative and modern pay TV offers worldwide. These include the Personal Video Recorder (PVR), which allows broadcasts to be recorded and played back at the same time.
In addition to the standard bouquet , DStv also offers a Portuguese and Indian bouquet. The German bouquet was discontinued in 2007 and was partially taken over by Deukom .
