Therese Grünbaum

Therese Grünbaum (née Müller ; born August 24, 1791 in Vienna ; † January 30, 1876 in Berlin ) was an Austrian opera singer ( soprano ).

Career

Therese Grünbaum was born as the eldest daughter of Magdalena Valley Reining and the composer Wenzel Müller (in his second marriage). Therese received her first training from her father and made her debut as a child as Lilli in Ferdinand Kauer's Donauweibchen . From 1807 the Müller family was engaged at the theater in Prague, from 1816 in Vienna, where they moved to the court opera ensemble in 1819.

She gave guest roles in Munich (1827) and Berlin (1828–1830). She then worked as a pedagogue in Berlin.

From 1813 she was married to the tenorist Johann Christoph Grünbaum , with whom she had four children, including the opera singer Caroline Grünbaum (1814–1868).
