The 34th edition of the CECAFA-Cup , officially 2010 CECAFA Senior Challenge Cup , was held from November 27th 2010 to December 12th 2010 in Tanzania (mainland). Nine member associations of the Council for East and Central Africa Football Association and three invited teams played for the title of East and Central Africa champions.

The tournament was first sponsored by Tusker .

Game mode

The 12 participating countries play in three groups with four teams each. The group winners and runners-up as well as the two best thirds in the group qualify for the quarter-finals. The winners play in the semi-finals for a place in the final. The losers in the semi-finals play for third place.

Final round

In the quarter and semi-finals, in the game for third place and in the final, the knockout system is used . If the games in the final round are tied after the regular playing time of 90 minutes, there will be two extra times of 15 minutes and, if there is still no winner after the end of extra time, there will be a penalty shoot-out .
