The first edition of the East and Central African Senior Challenge Cup 1970 , also Challenge Cup, took place from September 26th to October 3rd, 1970 in Zanzibar . Four East and Central African teams played here for the title of East and Central African champions. Uganda won its third title. The East and Central African Senior Challenge Cup is considered the successor to the Gossage Cup and a forerunner of the CECAFA Cup .
