Coat of arms of the municipality of Ballern
The coat of arms of the municipality of Ballern was the official emblem of Ballern from 1959 to 1974, along with the flag . It shows a branch with three green linden leaves above a silver wavy bar .
history
Local researcher Kurt Hoppstädter designed the coat of arms . The Saarland Ministry of the Interior approved the use of the coat of arms in a resolution of April 20, 1959. With this resolution, the municipality also received the right to use the colors green and white as the municipality's colors.
With the incorporation of Ballern into the city of Merzig on January 1, 1974, the coat of arms lost its official validity.
Foundation of the coat of arms
The three linden leaves in the upper field symbolize the three former villages that made up the municipality of Ballern, Ballern, Rech and Ripplingen. The branch probably symbolizes a group of linden trees near Ballern, which used to be a meeting place for the citizens of the community.
The silver wavy bar in the lower field symbolizes the location of the municipality on the left bank of the Saar .
