Coat of arms of the Socialist Republic of Serbia
The coat of arms of the Socialist Republic of Serbia was the official coat of arms of the Socialist Republic of Serbia . Like the flag , the coat of arms designed by Đorđe Andrejević Kun was presented to the public on January 17, 1947. It continued to be used a few years after the fall of Yugoslavia until it was replaced by the current Serbian coat of arms in 2004 .
description
In blue a rising yellow sun on which a blue gear wheel lies. The whole is surrounded by a bouquet of golden wheat on the right and oak leaves on the left . A red five-pointed star above the coat of arms . The red center shield shows the stylized Cyrillic letter С (= Latin S) only four times in silver. These letters resemble the silver fire steel . The symbolism goes back to Stefan Nemanja . His reign was from 1167 to 1196.
The common silver cross, which was in this Serbian coat of arms for a long time, was removed for ideological reasons and has not been square on the shield since then. A red band shows the years 1804 and 1941. The first number refers to the first Serbian uprising against the Ottoman Empire . The second number refers to the national uprising against the Axis powers during World War II .
